The short answer is absolutely NO. Chocolate is one of the most dangerous human foods for cats. It poses a serious threat to their health and can be fatal.
Why is Chocolate Toxic?
Chocolate contains two substances that are toxic to felines: caffeine and theobromine. While humans can metabolize these easily, cats (and dogs) process them much more slowy, allowing toxic levels to build up in their system.
Dark vs. Milk Chocolate
The danger depends on the type of chocolate. Baking chocolate and dark chocolate contain the highest concentrations of theobromine and are the most dangerous. Milk chocolate contains less, and white chocolate contains very little, but all should be avoided.
Symptoms of Poisoning
Symptoms can appear within 6 to 12 hours and include vomiting, diarrhea, rapid breathing, increased heart rate, seizures, and muscle rigidity. In severe cases, it can lead to coma and death.

What to Do?
If you suspect your cat has eaten chocolate, do not wait for symptoms. Contact your veterinarian immediately. Try to determine how much and what kind they ate to help the vet determine the best course of action.
